  • Agronomist/Quality Compliance Manager

    Position Description and Responsibilities

     

    POSITION:  Agronomist/Quality Compliance Manager

     

     

    PURPOSE OF POSITION:

    Manage all aspects of potato quality using the mindset of seed-to-shelf.

    Manage all potato quality programs during the potato life cycle (field through shipping.)

    Monitor and report potato quality from the field into storage and during the storage and shipping season.

    Support the quality monitoring systems of all potato storages throughout storage season providing detailed reports as requested by supervisor

    Monitor and report potato quality from the lab and shipping facility.

    Support management of chip potato agronomy and production programs throughout the growing season.

    Provide scouting leadership for all fields, including but not limited to: stand counts, canopy cover, disease and insect monitoring.

     

    SUPERVISOR:

      (Primary) Farm Manager--Navajo Mesa Farms

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

     A.  PRIMARY

    Understand and document all best practice aspects of Frito Lay and public varieties from field production through storage.

    Provide agronomic recommendations for potato fields according to crop and weather conditions.

    Provide best practice recommendations for NMF potato variety portfolio.

    Maintain clear understanding of insects, diseases, and other concerns that affect the growth and quality of the potato crop.

    Acquire and maintain clear understanding for the storage of chip potatoes and provide oversight and leadership.

    Understand, manage and maintain bruise-free program and index throughout harvest into storage.

    Gain working knowledge and application for all aspects of potato quality and frying processes.

    Understand and execute Global Good Agricultural Practice (GAP)

    Provide assistance to crop production managers with all ground selection for current chip potato crop.

    Oversee current and future field selections to ensure maximum farm productivity and profitability.

    Acquire and maintain clear understanding of irrigation practices for the potato crop.

    Collect and organize data throughout growing, harvest, and storage seasons and report information to Management Team on a weekly basis.

    Acquire and maintain knowledge of potato grading and shipping management.

    Perform certain jobs outside of regular job description when necessary, if a fellow NMF employee is absent or unable to work.

    Ongoing learning process for all aspects of the NMF operation.  On-the-job training as well as outside education as needed.

    Ongoing communication with supervisors and co-workers with respect to farm operations.

    Continue professional development through educational opportunities.

  •  Crop Production Manager

    POSITION:  Crop Production Manager

     

    LOCATION:  Farmington, New Mexico

     

    PURPOSE OF POSITION:

    Manage farm operations to perform and execute specific accountabilities including land preparation, planting, cultivation, irrigation, chemigation.  Must understand and carry a general knowledge of chipping potatoes.

    Co-manage production of all chip potatoes throughout the growing season.

    Co-manage storage facilities and support shipping of potatoes.

    Supervise and/or operate machinery from ground preparation, planting, and harvesting potatoes.

    Monitor and manage soil moisture and irrigation scheduling.

    Support and assist maintenance technicians and pivot technicians as needed.

    Support scouting program on a weekly basis and report recommendations to Agronomist and Manager.

     

    SUPERVISOR:

      (Primary) Farm Manager--Navajo Mesa Farms

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

     A.  PRIMARY

    Manage agronomic recommendations as directed and advised on the overall farm plan “Agronomy Workbook”.

    Thorough knowledge and understanding of center pivot irrigation and provide management of assigned farm quadrants.

    Acquire and maintain clear understanding of irrigation practices for the NMF potato crop.

    Anticipate and execute maintenance scheduling for pivots and other production equipment as needed.

    Implement and practice an effective preventive maintenance and safety program.

    Provide management oversight to field preparation, planting, diking, and harvesting crews as assigned.

    Assist with machinery repairs and manage fall/winter field operations during the winter months.

    Assist Agronomist locating proper field selections for the following year crop rotation.

    Assist and provide oversight of field selections to ensure maximum farm potential and profitability.

    Understand all aspects of all Frito-Lay and public potato varieties.

    Understand, manage and maintain bruise-free program and index throughout harvest into storage.

    Perform certain jobs, when necessary for a supervisor to fill a position when a fellow employee at NMF is not able to work.

    Ongoing learning process for all aspects of the NMF operation.  On-the-job training as well and outside education as needed.

    Ongoing communication with supervisors and co-workers with respect to farm operations.

  • Head Pivot Technician

    POSITION:  HEAD PIVOT TECHNICIAN

     

     

    PURPOSE OF POSITION:

    Manage and execute specific farm operations including irrigation maintenance on center pivots, chemigation, and fertigation, throughout the growing season.

    Electrical knowledge pertaining to center pivot sprinkler operations.

    Operate machinery when needed from ground preparation, planting, growing, harvesting and storing of potatoes.

    Assist other maintenance technicians when needed.

     

     

    SUPERVISOR:

     (Primary) Crop Production Manager

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    PRIMARY

    Ongoing learning process for all aspects of the NMF operation.   On the job training as well as outside education as needed.

    Ongoing communication with supervisors and fellow workers.

    Knowledge and understanding of center pivot mechanics and operations.

    Anticipate and execute maintenance scheduling for pivots and other equipment as time allows.

    Practice and implement an effective preventive maintenance and safety program.

    Operate farm equipment for specific jobs explained in the PURPOSE OF POSITION section.

    Be willing to perform certain jobs, when it is necessary for a supervisor to fill a position when a fellow employee at Navajo Mesa Farms is unable to work.

    Assist with center pivot repairs and projects during winter months that are necessary to prepare for the upcoming year. If                                                                                                                                                       repairs and preparation for upcoming year projects are completed, supervisor will provide other projects to complete before Spring farming operations commence.

    Position Description and Responsibilities

    POSITION:  TRUCK OPERATOR

     

    PURPOSE OF POSITION:

    Successfully operate a 10-wheelertruck both on and off road

     

    SUPERVISOR:

    (Primary) Crop Production Manager

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    A. PRIMARY

    Provide and maintain a valid Class E driver's license

    Maintain daily log books

    Abide by farm and equipment safety procedures.

    Must be able to follow instructions given by tractor operator(s) and line supervisor.

    Follow and complete supervisor’s guidelines daily.

    Basic verbal and written communication skills

    Ongoing communication with supervisors and fellow workers

     

    SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED:

    Look ahead and anticipate problems.

    Successfully operate a tractor and necessary equipment for ground preparation, planting, and harvest

    POSITION: Human Resource Manager

     

    LOCATION: Physical Location (Farmington, NM); Other Support Locations (American Falls, ID & Maricopa, AZ)

     

    PURPOSE OF POSITION: R&G Potato Company is seeking a Human Resource Manager to lead all development and implementation of people

    related processes, services and support systems for the company’s business units. This position will support various HR employee programs within

    the organization; for example benefits administration, recruiting & hiring, and other related programs. The ideal candidate should have experience in

    human resource management and related human resource programs. The company is looking for a human resource professional who practices

    discretion in all personnel matters, doesn’t mind working on numerous tasks at once, and enjoys variety in their daily work.

     

    SUPERVISOR: (Primary) COO R&G Potato - - CFO R&G Potato

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES: (Primary)

    Staffing and Recruiting: Oversees hiring for of all business units; develops plans and directs local employment activities (recruiting,

    screening, interviewing, selecting, and orienting) for the hourly workforce as well as salaried workforce: deploys innovative strategies to

    hire during peak seasons.

    Employee Relations: Works closely with management to interactively solve complex employee issues; develop communicate and enforce

    location specific guidelines, rules and procedures.

    Technology: Manages Human Resource data system and related coordination with all personnel files.

    Benefits Administration: Manages enrollment process, communicating package with staff and ensuring new employees are enrolled.

    Policy Development and HR Compliance: Researches the need for new or updated human resources policies; communicates and

    interprets related processes, maintains compliance with State and Federal regulations, and maintains HR compliance.

    Training and Development: Ensures all employees are thoroughly on boarded, understand all company policies and have adequate

    resources for development. Creates and conducts management training so that people at all levels understand roles and responsibilities.

     

    DUTIES: (Not all inclusive)

    -Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures,

    and reporting are in compliance.

    -Partner with R&G executive team to develop and execute long-term strategies for building strong employee culture and positive work

    environment.

    -Maintain, amend and communicate Employee Handbook to ensure compliance with long term business strategy and all regulations.

    - Ensure HR policies and procedures align with the company mission and strategic goals.

    -Lead hiring process partnering with other managers to recruit, interview, test, and select employees to fill vacant positions.

    -Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.

    -Keep records of benefit plan participation such as insurance and pension plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers,

    performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.

    -Coordinate management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment.

    -Advise management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues and respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and

    programs- Administer performance review program and salary & compensation program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within

    organization.

    - Administer benefit programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, and leave of absence.

    - Serve as first point of contact for workplace injuries and partners with Work Comp carrier to manage workers’ compensation claims.

    -Conduct wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rate.

    - Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.

    - Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    - At least five years of human resources generalist experience, with at least three years in management.

    - Experience in the agriculture or agricultural business industry is a plus.

    - BA or BS in Business and/or Human Resources.

    - Excellent communications – verbal and written – skills.

    - Demonstrated ability to multi-task and excellent organizational skills.

    - Must be highly motivated and a self-starter.

    - Strong drive for results with ability to lead small groups and delegate tasks.

    - Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and applications.

    - Out of state travel capability.
